Love these pants
This is the second pair I've bought, and they are the best outdoor pants for cold windy weather. So comfortable and durable.
3sp XC Pants
Why We Love It: Built to withstand the punishing weather typically encountered while cross-country skiing, these pants provide plenty of waterproofing and ample stretch.
What to Consider: Those who ski in milder conditions may want a pair of pants with zip-open vents.
These classic, tapered-leg pants use a mixture of weatherproof, 90 percent polypropylene (which blocks wind up to 35 miles per hour) and 10 percent spandex (offering ample stretch), so they provide protection and coverage throughout your stride. The thighs and hips are slightly relaxed without adding bulk, while the non-rolling elastic waistband works with a drawstring for a near-custom, no-slip fit. A flatlock inseam avoids chafing, and the 12-inch ankle zippers are offset so they marry nicely with your favorite pair of boots. The SportHill 3SP XC Pants also come in men’s and women’s styles and both offer two side, on-seam pockets for quick-grab items like phones, sun block, or lip protection.
Warm and comfy but pilled within 3 weeks
I wear these pants all the time in this Oregon winter but shortly--I mean weeks--after buying them, the fabric started pilling. The pants are almost entirely pilled several months after purchasing them. I followed all the instructions and turned them inside out to wash, etc. Since they're all pilled, everything is attracted to them. So great warmth but don't look great. I would only get a second pair if it were a seconds.
Love them
These pants are soooo warm and comfortable. I wear them to the office with a suit jacket and no one notices I am wearing basically sweatpants. My office is always cold, but now I’ll be toasty. I will be living in them all winter.
Great pants LARGE
This is the second pair of this model pants I've had. This time mine are so large. I ordered a small long just like before and these seem as if they are a medium long. I'm 5ft9in tall and 110 pounds. I'm swimming in them. But the length is great.
I would purchase again!
I have only worn once since purchase but it was 15 degrees with some slight wind. I wore them to walk 5 miles outside and I wore the pants alone without any other leg covering. I could feel a slight chill thru the pants but it was not uncomfortable at all. The pants are well made with a very nice heavy material, but moves very comfortably. There pants will be my go-to anytime the temperature dips below 25 degrees.
Best pants ever
Hands down the most comfortable and sporty outdoor pants on the market. There's a reason I own three pairs
Make a mid-rise winter pant in this model
Lower the waist band, and you'd have a winner. These pants should come in a mid-rise (apx. 1 inch below belly button). The tapered leg is fine. Yes, they pill over time, but are warm in windy, cold weather (up to 40 degrees). Because the “natural” waist comes up so high, I have to fold down the waist band which looks cheesy and isn’t that comfortable.
Good as ever
I bought my first pair of Sporthill pants 20 years ago but they are now a more level 2 warmth rather than a three since they lost all the warm fleece on the inside. I wore my new pair this weekend and they are far warmer than the old worn ones. I did have to remove some of the elastic on the waist because the waist was too tight; a nice fit with the rest of the pants, even the length. I am 5 ft 3 inches and 110 pounds and bought the XS, the same as my last ones.
Petites sizes inseam lengths don’t make sense
Petite length is 3 inches too long. The ankle zippers don’t allow for alternations that I would need to make. An exchange is not going to help that. Paying for shipping both ways is an awfully expensive and disappointing. Guess I won’t be doing online orders from Sporthill.
By the way: why does the inseam length increase with the size? I’m just a large petite who could use a small petite inseam. Please explain your logic on this. It doesn’t make sense to me.
